Accident and Emergency Policy

It is my policy to keep all children in my care safe.

My setting has been checked by Ofsted, and I have safety practices like a fire drill which I review regularly.

As a registered childminder I have a valid first aid certificate. I can give basic first aid treatment, my first aid box is labelled and easily assessable. Parent contact details are with it.

I have permission from parents to seek emergency treatment in necessary.

If a child has an accident I will reassure the child and treat if I can, while keeping the other children safe. If not I will ring 999 for help. If I have to accompany the child to hospital I will either take the other children with me or ring my emergency back up. If I deal with the accident myself I will ring the affected child’s parents. If I go to the hospital I will ring the parents and ask them to meet me there.

If I have an accident I will get the nearest responsible to contact my emergency back up, I will do my best at all times to make sure the children are safe, reassured and kept calm.

If you have any concerns about this policy do not hesitate to contact me.
